Environment Issues

At Moldwood® Products Company we are well aware of the issues that impact our environment. We are responsible stewards of the resources that are entrusted to us.

In the early sixties, when Moldwood was established, planer mill shavings, a by-product of lumber finishing and a nuisance to deal with, were usually burned as a means of disposal.

Converting this waste into a useful product has been an ongoing process at our plant in York, Alabama. For 35 years we have sought out and worked in conjunction with various industries to develop products that are well suited to end user requirements. Sometimes this meant designing a replacement for existing products, occasionally it was finding a way to improve performance through new technology, and often it was starting with a concept and finishing with an industry changing result.

Engineering product from recycled materials has been our history at Moldwood, and it will be our future as we find more and better ways to reclaim materials and to improve our processes.

NOTE!!
We actively reclaim used core plugs. Used core plugs have found many homes and land filling has been one. As land fills close and costs climb, it looks as though reclaiming will be a more desirable and cost effective way of dealing with this issue. Please contact us for more information.
